Blast from past

Better late than never.

Rohit me and Priyank, we proudly called ourselves the RAP gang in KV, Bhopal. We were the most happening group back then [or so we used to think :D]. We have shared some of best moments of my life.

It was Rohit's turn to tie knot with his 8 year old sweetheart. Without giving a thought, me and priyank packed our bags to be a part of wedding. Getting to meet an old friend is a treat and getting to see hot kashmiri chicks is just icing on the cake ;)

It was a blast. Me n pappu successfully turned kashmiri wedding into a bhangra fest. Here is a pic of all of us together.

Wish kouli a very happily married life. Hope me n pappu fall prey to the bandwagon effect soon :D

Creeper

I have been asked a lot of times by my friends to come watch play but the offer never seemed too tempting mostly because of my disposition to remain inert. This time i was offered by someone whom i could not turn down.

It was 11th show of a play i got to know about from an article in The Hindu. From the article, it seemed as if it holds some loose connect with Mythological tale of "Vikram Betal" [a modern re-imagination of that]. Article also spoke about it dealing with exorcism. Very honestly i did not have a fair idea as to what it was about.

With a vague idea of play and intentions of killing a boring sunday afternoon [which otherwise i spend sleeping or recently by watching IPL matches] we headed towards Millers road. Normally i don't mind driving on weekends but when it is cunningham road i dread the traffic and parking hassles. We went by rick ;) .

We were handed over a write up of what the play is with some message from Director which unfortunately i could not read as the lights were put off [we reached late !!!]. Play unfolded with a guy and a girl fighting over how they have different ways to narrate the same story. Girl came out as a suave speaker whereas the guy was projected as an unrefined [but closer to real life] one. Till the end of first act i could only find some power packed performance by both of them trying to explain something which i just could not dig. There were references to Bangalore dying out, loosing its identity and then something about people having too much online presence. All of this put together hardly made any sense to me. Although few bits and pieces spoke clearly about how a man is deep down in internet shit. How today life has become unimaginable without internet and online presence. How there are a few people who can only find online bots to talk to. A lot of acting but a very little of substance. No doubt amazing performance and a very cool light design.

At the end of Act 1, both the performers made it clear that the vague nature of the play so far was intentional [don't ask why] and gave us hopes that what follows is much simpler. To someone like me who is wet behind the ears when it comes to art and literature, it still seemed a little difficult to catch on. This time there was no mention of WWW as a threat to our social life. To the extent that i gathered [which can be very shallow], they were criticizing crowd in general and youth specifically for being oblivious to innumerable disorders that persist today in our neighborhood. How we don't pay attention to disturbing things unless they affect us directly. Both the performers mentioned same thing in seemingly opposite ways the only place where i could possible draw any resemblance to Vikram Betal tale.

To sum up, i was amazed by the acting and the whole setup. If only if could understand more from it but for that its me who is to be blamed. Overall a good experience and i found that watching plays is not as bad as i used to think.
