Metaphor implemented
The saying "Internet is series of tubes" has been virtually established. Everywhere around us, we see internet being used as a tool to connect. The connection could be to people [via social networking, emails, etc] or it could be to any form of media and there is no end to it. Today while doing my regular tafree, i came across yet another venture in the world of WEB 2.0 which enables information sharing. Go through this link Macromedia Breeze.
The company claims to have an overlay network built based on join-me model. A friend connects to you by either accepting your request or requesting to you to connect to him. Once a connection is established you practically build a information sharing channel between yourselves. This could be extended to any imaginable topology [graph, tree, mesh, etc] as the network grows. The information sharing channel is supposed be in "auto-sync" mode. Meaning, changes made by one on a shared file are going to be reflected to all the other users in that overlay depending on the permissions assigned to that user/file. Now people who check this link would realize that its a lot different from Kazaa and likes in many aspects. Forget the feasibility of it in terms of network-speed it asks for, to me this definitely means there is no limit to ideas that can emerge in WEB 2.0.
I wonder when am i going to start getting any of such ideas ....
